Faith That Will Not Walk Away - 09/20/2026

In Mark 7:24–30, Jesus encounters a desperate Syrophoenician woman who comes to Him seeking deliverance for her daughter. Although she is a Gentile and an outsider to Israel’s covenant promises, she refuses to walk away when Jesus’ initial response is not what she hoped to hear. Instead, she demonstrates a faith that is desperate enough to come directly to Jesus, humble enough to accept His authority and God’s rightful order, and persistent enough to trust in His mercy. Her response reveals that genuine faith does not demand what it deserves but depends completely upon the grace of Christ, believing that even the “crumbs” of His mercy are more than enough. Jesus responds to her faith and heals her daughter, reminding us that when God does not respond in the way or timing we expect, we should continue coming to Him, humble ourselves before Him, trust His Word, and rest in the sufficiency of His mercy.
