Growing in faith. Building friendships. Helping one another thrive.

Finishing Strong is a ministry for senior adults who want to remain connected, supported, purposeful, and spiritually strong through every season of life.

Whether you are looking for friendship, practical help, opportunities to serve, or guidance through a difficult transition, you do not have to navigate this season alone. Finishing Strong brings senior adults together to enjoy life, care for one another, and use their experience and abilities to bless others.

Friendship and Community

Life is better when we share it with others. Finishing Strong provides opportunities for senior adults to build meaningful friendships through:

  • Group lunches and dinners
  • Day trips and local outings
  • Game days and social gatherings
  • Educational workshops
  • Special church events
  • Opportunities to serve together

Whether you are new to First Baptist Church or have been part of our church family for years, there is a place for you.

Practical Help for Everyday Life

Sometimes a small need can become a significant burden when you do not know whom to call. Finishing Strong connects senior adults with trustworthy people who can offer encouragement, practical assistance, and helpful information.

Immediate Safety and Practical Needs

We help identify practical ways to make everyday life safer and more manageable. This may include:

  • Identifying fall hazards in the home
  • Installing or recommending grab bars and safety equipment
  • Replacing lightbulbs or smoke-detector batteries
  • Moving small items to create safer walkways
  • Helping identify transportation or meal needs
  • Connecting people with appropriate community resources

Daily Routines and Technology

Technology can help us stay connected, but it can also be frustrating and create new risks. Volunteers may assist with:

  • Learning to use a smartphone or tablet
  • Accessing the church app and livestream
  • Setting up helpful reminders
  • Recognizing suspicious calls, emails, and text messages
  • Understanding basic online safety
  • Connecting with family through video calls

Financial Organization and Legal Readiness

Finishing Strong can help senior adults think through important documents, decisions, and conversations before a crisis occurs. This may include general guidance concerning:

  • Organizing important financial and household information
  • Identifying documents that may need to be prepared or updated
  • Understanding the purpose of wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
  • Preparing emergency contact information
  • Finding qualified financial or legal professionals when needed
  • Talking with trusted family members about future wishes

Finishing Strong does not provide legal or financial advice. Our role is to help people become better prepared and connect them with qualified professionals.
