Day 1: More Than Just Creation

Reading: Mark 3:31-35; John 1:12-13
Devotional: We are all God's creation, made in His image, but not all are His children. The sermon reminds us that being part of God's family requires a choice—a deliberate decision to follow Jesus. Just as Jesus redefined family based on obedience to God's will rather than bloodlines, we must examine our own hearts. Do we simply know about Jesus, or do we truly know Him? Being near Jesus in a church building doesn't make us family; surrendering our lives to Him does. Today, ask yourself: Have I made the choice to become part of God's family? If not, what's holding you back? God's invitation stands open, waiting for your response.

Day 2: A Shared Mission Unites Us

Reading: Acts 1:12-14; Ephesians 2:19-22
Devotional: After Jesus' resurrection, His brothers—who once doubted Him—joined the disciples waiting for the Holy Spirit. What changed? They witnessed the risen Lord and embraced the shared mission. The sermon powerfully states: "A shared mission is better than shared blood." Matthew the tax collector and Simon the Zealot had opposing political views, yet they walked together for three years serving Jesus. Our spiritual family transcends backgrounds, politics, and preferences. We are the household of God, brothers and sisters united in purpose. Today, look beyond surface differences in your church family. How can you strengthen bonds with fellow believers who may think differently but share your commitment to Christ's mission?

Day 3: Obedience Reveals Genuine Faith

Reading: John 14:15-24; 1 John 2:3-6
Devotional: "If you love me, obey me," Jesus declared. Words are easy; obedience reveals the depth of our faith. The sermon challenges us: many claim to love Jesus while their lives show no evidence of His presence. Polycarp, at 85, chose death over denying Christ, saying, "I've served the Lord for 85 years and He's never let me down. I'm not going to let Him down." That's authentic faith. Partial obedience is still disobedience. Is there one area of your life you're withholding from God? Perhaps it's your finances, a relationship, a secret habit, or your time. Today, identify that hidden corner and surrender it completely to Jesus. Wholehearted obedience brings wholehearted peace.

Day 4: Beyond Sunday Morning

Reading: Romans 12:1-2; James 1:22-25
Devotional: The sermon asks us to "move beyond merely attending church to truly following Jesus." Faith isn't confined to Sunday services; it's a daily commitment. We are called to be "the fifth gospel"—living testimonies that others can read when they don't open Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. Every morning presents a choice: Will I build my kingdom or His? Authentic Christian community forms when we live out our faith consistently, becoming the hands and feet of Jesus in Mesquite or wherever God has planted us. What does your Monday through Saturday look like? Do your coworkers, neighbors, and family see Jesus reflected in your daily choices? Today, commit to one specific way you'll demonstrate Christ's love outside the church walls this week.

Day 5: Finding Your Place in God's Family

Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; 1 Peter 2:9-10
Devotional: You might not fit perfectly in your earthly family, but God says, "I've got a family for you." Regardless of your past, your mistakes, or how different you feel, there's a place for you in God's household. The beauty of the spiritual family is that we're all uniquely wired with different gifts, backgrounds, and experiences—like catching fish in Alaska or flying helicopters—yet we belong together. God doesn't want you sitting in the crowd; He wants you participating, using your unique design to serve alongside others. Today, reflect on how God has wired you. What are your passions, skills, and experiences? Don't hide in the pew. Step forward and discover where you fit in serving God's mission. Your spiritual family is waiting.
